Alongside creating an identity rebrand for Babygreens nursery in Bellingham, WA, I had the great pleasure to incorporate this rebrand effort into the new Fairhaven nursery location. My role was to direct the design of this new space, as well as it’s hardgoods curation and styling/merchandising. Owner, Nick Meza and his father did the the hard stuff- tear down, painting, tiles, lighting install. Nick was a supportive collaborator, clever up-cylcer, and vocal supporter in the decisions made to bring this space to life.

The intention behind the design of this space was of an inspiring, alluring, and slightly sexy nature, all while remaining an illuminating frame around the plants and hard goods sold at the nursery. The historic space was quite large to work with, but ultimately had to feel warm and inviting; sweet-as-cream coloured walls and golden wood accents contrasted against expansive and moody-toned floors and accents painted a churning-ocean green. Something more than vague “earth tones” was necessary to create a space that could garner a little surprise while still being recognized as a plant nursery. White tiled accents and live wood tables and shelving, (reused from counters and shelves of the previous nursery), were incorporated throughout.
